Austin High School
Reunion |
Sponsored by the classes of 1948 and 1949, an Austin High School Reunion was held on April 25-26, 2008. On Friday evening, we began at the elegant Renaissance Hotel at the Arboretum in North Austin. During the Registration and Social Hour, waitpersons circulated with trays of hors d'oeuvres, and after that we had a delicious sit-down dinner with shrimp cocktail, soup, baked chicken with vegetables, and dessert. On Saturday morning we all traveled south to the Fire Hall in Manchaca, Texas for an all-you-can-eat fried catfish lunch.
Early in preparations, the Reunion Committee was concerned that we might not have enough paid attendees to cover expenses. However, as a result of a brilliantly written letter by Bobby Tieman combined with telephone contacts by the Committee, we received many generous donations and found enough paid attendees to come out financially. This lends new meaning to the slogan "Loyal Forever".
