I have gained access to
some remarkable old pictures! When Dave and Trey were cleaning out a
back room at the Hyde Park Gym, they came across a box of photographic
negatives that were left there more than 15 years ago by Ken Litchfield.
He traveled to various bodybuilding competitions throughout Texas during the
years 1982-86 taking several thousand color as well as black and white photos. Since the box was stored
without a top, its contents were dusty and grimy. Fortunately, the place
was dry and the negatives remained quite clean as they were protected by
plastic sheaths. Each group of negatives was stuffed into a manila
envelope that usually identified the bodybuilding show where taken. A
complete listing of these envelopes is given below. Additionally, there
are several envelopes with no identifying marks.
With the equipment I have
available, processing film negatives
to produce digital images is slow and tedious work. However, I have created
several photo galleries as indicated by links below. Pictures are identified by year, name of show, and
a number in the top line of text above each picture. If you can name the contestants
pictured, please identify the picture in an email to
