On February 8,
2003 Austin Parks and Recreation presented the Capital City Showdown
IV, an afternoon 10-bout card of amateur boxing featuring young
fighters from over Central Texas. Weight classes ranged from 80 pounds up to
heavyweight. Many of these athletes were preparing for Golden
Gloves matches to be held in San Antonio in a few weeks. Austin boxing luminaries attending included Richard Lord, owner of Richard Lord's Boxing Gym, and Bruce Acuňa, owner of Bruce's KO Boxing. Several well-know Austin Professional fighters including Anne Wolfe, Johnny Casas, Manuel Sepeda, and Ilia Tcharikov also attended. Click on the link to see snapshot pictures taken at the event. |
